Row House Cafe has been South Lake Union’s destination for neighborhood arts events for years, and we couldn’t be more excited to announce that we’re bringing live music back to the house!
South Lake Union is more than just a collection of offices—SLU is a vibrant, quirky neighborhood with a big eclectic voice! We want to hear music floating through the streets in the evenings, and we want to see residents and visitors strolling through the shops and cafes as they enjoy a night out. If you’ve been going downtown or up to the hill for your entertainment, we invite you to try a slice of what Row House is serving up this Friday!
Friday, October 16th, we’ll be featuring the Seattle saxophone legend Lonnie J. Williams, accompanied by the red hot licks of guitarist Steve Calkins, from 6-9pm. As always, the music is free, the drinks are cold, and the vibe is cool. Come into Row House for gnoshes, dinner, coffee, or cocktails and enjoy the sounds of New Orleans right here in our own little shanty.
Lonnie’s style is versatile, and includes elements of jazz, blues, and R&B, with a few things that are totally original mixed in! The one thing you can always count on is his performance—you’ll be transfixed by his technical skill, but what really keeps people listening is the range of emotion and the story he tells with his music. Here are a few pictures of Lonnie’s past performances at venues around Seattle, including the Highway 99 Blues Club and the North Bend Blues Walk, and check out the video of him performing at Sam’s Sports Bar in Kent—wow!
Music is a deep-felt tradition here at Row House Cafe, and we’ve hosted many different acts in the past. We’ve been damn near snuffed out by the cranes and construction, but now that things in the area are starting to settle down we’re ready to reclaim our title as SLU’s go-to art house! You can count on Row House’s music events to pull in some of the best talent in Seattle and never charge a cover. Check out some pictures of past acts below, and we hope we see you this Friday for some deeply soulful and lightning-fast blues saxophone and guitar!
